Adventure to Ariundle Woodlands

Driving on the left was all up to Ginny for this adventure. I’m so glad she felt confident enough to take it on. We had a great time in the Ariundle Woodlands, an old growth oak forest. Hugh was our guide. The idea of forest bathing began in the 1980s in Japan when the work ethic had gotten out of hand and people needed a release. They discovered, or rediscovered, how important it was to take time away in nature.

Hugh shared a lot of history of the place. He also gave us all kinds of good invitations. We listened with our “deer ears” which is cupping your hands behind your ears to hear like a deer. We looked high in the canopy of trees. We looked low at the moss on the forest floor. We looked using magnifying glasses. We smelled. We touched. We listened. We bathed ourselves in all the green and growing around us. And Mother Nature bathed us too, of course it rained in the end.
