Trash Truck
This morning I was out walking early. The trash truck was making it's round. I heard lots of squealing as I rounded a corner. There was a mom and two toddlers in the driveway screaming and waving at the trash man. The kids were super excited to see the trash truck grinding down their street. They made me laugh. The mom and I shared a smile. The whole scene reminded me of the mornings I too stood in the driveway with a squealing toddler waving at the trash truck. It just never gets old. teehee. My son, Zach, is home from college with week. He slept while I watched the trash truck. Things change. This week I am taking Zach to all those appointments you have to squeeze in while you are home from school: dentist, doctor, orthodontist, dermatologist, and hair stylist. I'm the chauffeur again. It's okay it gives us time to visit a little more. And it gives me time to knit while I'm waiting. I needed something easy to knit so I dug through my stash to find a collection of sock yarn remains that will make a nice hitchhiker scarf. I love the way this scarf grows on the needles. And all the waiting will give the scarf plenty of time to grow. teehee. The knitting will also give me time to play "remember when." Remember when... Zach screamed through haircuts now he tells Chris how he wants to cut. Remember when... Zach got his braces, he lost his smile for a few days. Remember when...January is a good time to take stock. I remember my toddler, but I'm also very pleased to know the great young man he's becoming.
