Dishcloth Diva!
Who knew there was so much to learn about dishcloths? I didn’t. I knew in the back of my mind there was more to this humble creation than mopping up spills but Deb Buckingham really covers it for you in her new book Dishcloth Diva.I enjoyed that Deb starts with the basics, explaining why cotton is the best fiber for the dishcloth task. The pro and con list she sets out gave me an education and it was fun!Deb offers many clever designs. Knitting a dishcloth is the go-to project when you want a taste treat of knitting. Here is a little something that will keep you intrigued with lovely stitch patterns (using cotton for great stitch definition) and something that you can finish! I have three sweaters in the works at the moment. But I have finished 4 dishcloths recently. See what I mean?My favorite patterns in the book are “Natural” and “Organic”. I like the directional qualities of both designs.“Natural” is fun because of the cables. I always feel like a rock star when I cable because it looks tricky but isn’t. I also like the fact that you can finish a cable cloth faster than you could a fisherman knit sweater! Did I mention I have several sweaters in the works? Dishcloths to the rescue again. The “Organic” pattern is a favorite because it’s reversible. It does mean you have to be careful to know which is the right and wrong side. I tied a bow of scrap yarn to the right side and that kept me on track. Now is a good time to indulge in this book it will give you lots of ideas for last minute gifts. It will also keep you happy while you be inclined to go nuts with holiday stress. A little knitting will soothe your day.
