Obsession?

I am giving myself a break form the rows of white stockinette I still need to finish on my son's Valentine scarf. Instead I am working on miles of garter stitch. Not a big difference you say? Well...I have discovered the hitchhiker scarf. It's a lovely little thing. My stash of sock yarn has some skeins I will never make into socks. I just bought the yarn cause I loved the colors. Now I have a way of showing off the yarn rather than hiding it in my shoes! I'm working on my fourth hitchhiker scarf. Obsession? Maybe. Here's the thing, this scarf starts off with just two stitches. So in the beginning it goes so quickly you think I'll finish in no time. But eventually the rows can stretch out to a couple hundred stitches. The excitement of casting on wears off. But I like watching the variegated yarns change color. And it's fun adding dribbles of coordinating yarn from my stash to make the scarf longer (wider? It's hard to tell with this pattern). All I know is this is my go-to distraction of choice these days.Do you have a knit distraction? A go-to project that you can do on remote control? Just for fun.
