Panic

It has been an overwhelming week. My mom lives in Colorado Springs near the fire lines. A dear friend is awaiting test results for cancer. Another couple friend faces a job crisis. I am at a great distance from each loved one. My only option is to pray for these situations. These are burdens I can help these dear people carry. But as each day came and more bad news arrived I got overwhelmed. How on earth can I pray for all this? It’s too much to carry and worry over. I was in need of prayer myself! But then I remembered how a shared burden is lighter to carry. I prayed God would give me peace and comfort as well as those I was praying for. And it got a little easier. The worry was still there but the panic lifted. I am still concerned for all these loved ones but we are not in this alone. God is holding each hand and walking right along side us.Sometimes he doesn’t take away the storm or fix the problem as we’d like. Sometimes he calms the child crying in the disaster so we can move through. Even if moving forward taking a long time. And this makes it a little easier. The panic will probably rise again but I will do my best to remember that I am not alone. None of us are alone, we can reach out in prayer for a hand to hold as we walk through whatever life brings each day.
